James Tatum is back running various weekend courses at Sea View Art Barn in 2026. The one in June will be across the weekend, 13-14 June. Cost: £140 for the weekend. For further information please contact James directly mailto:jtatum@btconnect.com
His workshops are aimed at developing students to see like an artist – to see the world as shapes, not objects – focusing rather on tones and the relationships between shapes and forms. He also encourages an element of chance and risk, through which new possibilities for painting are discovered.
As he says, “For me, painting is a celebration of mystery. It’s the wisdom of uncertainty and insecurity. The asking of questions without answers. It values imagination over reason. The fiction that points towards the truth.”
